Teokseni käsittelevät talvisodan 1939-1940 kiihkeitä tapahtumia Kainuun erämaassa

Suomussalmella ja Kuhmossa

Kiistaan tarvitaan aina vähintään kaksi osapuolta. Niin kävi myös Kainuussa, missä vastakkain olivat sekä neuvostoliittolaiset että suomalaiset - edelliset maahan hyökkääjinä ja jälkimmäiset maansa puolustajina.

Sodan hinta oli molemmille osapuolille kova.

Monet suomalaisista, jotka selvisivät Suomussalmen korpitaisteluista jotakuinkin ehjinä, menehtyivät rintamanvaihdon jälkeen Kuhmon ankarissa mottitaisteluissa.

Sotatapahtumien lyhyt tiivistelmäosuus on lisätty selventämään ja jaottelemaan teosten operatiivista osuutta. Mukana on myös talvisodan yleistapahtumien hahmottamiseksi runsaasti erilaisia tilastoja sekä yksittäisiä otteita talvisotarintaman eri lohkoilta.

Mittakaavaan piirretyt taistelukartat on liitetty helpottamaan itse rintamatapahtumien tilanne-

ja paikkakohtaista seurantaa, joten asioista mahdollisesti täysin tietämätön lukijakin pääsee hyvin juoneen mukaan. Lisäksi tapahtumiin liittyviä valokuvia on lisätty mukaan.

Vaikka talvisota on vieläkin monen veteraanin omaiselle raskas aihe, olkoot nämä teokset henkisesti heitä vahvistavia sekä samalla nykyisen näköalattomuuden aikana sotilaallinen kädenojennus esikuvien puutteesta kärsivälle nuorisolle.

Esitän samalla kiitokset kaikille yhteyshenkilöille ja menneiden vuosien varrella retkillä mukana olleille, samoin puolustusvoimien edustajille - Kainuun rajavartiostolle ja Kainuun prikaatille.

TO FOLLOW THE FIGHTS OF THE WINTER WAR IN KAINUU

My works deal with the intense events of the 1939-1940 winter war in the wilderness of Kainuu Suomussalmi and Kuhmo

There are always at least two sides to a dispute. The same thing happened in Kainuu, where both

the Soviets and the Finns faced each other - the former as invaders and the latter as defenders of their country. The price of the war was heavy for both sides.

Many of the Finns who survived the raven battles in Suomussalmi somewhat intact, perished after

the change of front in the harsh battle of Kuhmo.

A short summary section of war events has been added to clarify and divide the operative part of the works. There are also plenty of different statistics and individual excerpts from different sections of

the Winter War front to give an overview of the general events of the Winter War.

The scale drawn battle maps have been included to facilitate the situational and location-specific monitoring of the front line events themselves, so that even a reader who is possibly completely ignorant of the issues can easily follow the plot. In addition, photos related to the events have been added.

Although the winter war is still a difficult subject for many veterans, may these works strengthen them spiritually and at the same time, in the current lack of perspective, a military hand out to the youth suffering from a lack of role models.

At the same time, I would like to express my thanks to all the contact persons and those who participated in the trips in the past years, as well as to the representatives of the defense forces -

the Kainuu border guard and the Kainuu brigade.
